Cooperation between the University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague (UCT) and the Agricultural University of Georgia (AGRUNI) has been developing since 2016, when the 48th International Chemistry Olympiad was held in Georgia. Representatives of UCT also participated as members of the expert team.
In the following years, representatives of both institutions met regularly at activities related to the Chemistry Olympiad. Gradually, the idea of a joint international camp in Georgia took shape, inspired by the long-standing Czech tradition of summer schools for talented students.
In 2023, a team from AGRUNI visited the Czech summer camp in Běstvina. Based on this visit, preparations began for the first Czech-Georgian summer school for young chemists, which will take place in June 2026 at the university base camp in Bazaleti.
The aim of the project is to transfer the proven model of Czech summer chemistry camps to the Georgian environment. AGRUNI has ideal facilities in Bazaleti – a base with a modern lecture hall, several classrooms, and outdoor areas for open-air teaching in the shade.
The summer school program will include specialized lectures, practical workshops, experiments at the base and in the university laboratory, team project work, supplemented by exploring Georgian nature, culture, and cuisine. The summer school program will be in English.
